business-context/SKILL.md
--- name: business-context description: Prepare or update a source-linked company, department and project context brief from the leader's natural explanation and permitted accessible records. --- # Business context Give the current job relevant background without making the leader explain facts already available. Read the [shared contract](../meetings-and-follow-through/references/working-contract.md). Receive the current task, leader's explanation, supplied files and permitted retrieval scope from the caller. Read relevant company instructions first, then department or category instructions, then the project material that applies to the job. Search only supplied or explicitly permitted accessible locations. Capture each source's location and relevant date; separate instructions about how to work, current business facts and saved decisions with their reasons. Scope-specific guidance governs its scope; surface conflicts or uncertain precedence instead of silently choosing a convenient version. Current leader corrections may resolve a conflict when the leader has that authority. Return a compact context brief that explains the business situation, audience, priorities and constraints needed for this task, with source anchors and consequential gaps. Include relevant earlier decisions and the reason those decisions still apply. Mark stale or disputed facts at the claim that depends on them. If no records are accessible, prepare the useful brief from the explanation, label its source and ask only for a fact that would change the approach. When the leader asks to update context, draft a scoped change to the owning company, department or project record. Keep durable instructions apart from dated facts. Name the proposed destination and meaningful change. Save only within the supplied authority, then reopen the saved record and return its location and verified change; otherwise return the draft for review. Do not treat a temporary conversation as a permanent business record. ## Returns to caller Context brief, instruction/fact/decision distinctions, source map, unresolved consequential gaps and any actual save/readback receipt. The caller supplies this brief to summary and interview rather than asking the leader to reconstruct the background.
